Every August without fail it happens—the summertime blues take hold. Day after day of triple digit temps become just too much.
Without consciously thinking about it, my yoga practice always changes about this time of year. Intense backbend and handstand work fall by the wayside in favor of juicy complex twists, headstand variations and cooling forward bends.
I also find myself dusting off bluesy playlists nearly forgotten that pair-up nicely with the sultry summer heat. Here is a playlist I've been enjoying lately, all songs by the incomparable Nina Simone.
I Think It's Going to Rain Today
I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl
In the Dark
Since I Fell for You
Sunday in Savannah
Isn't It a Pity
